Scope and Contents
Correspondences from Jill Johnston to Vaughan Rachel from 1995-2000. Box also contains an original artbook and gallery catalog. “Family Business” is a spiral-bound conceptual artist book by Vaughan Rachel, compiling copies of checks, letters, legal documents, and original text. The catalog is an artbook associated with a Vaughan Rachel exhibit at Gallery 25 in Fresno, CA, March 2-26 1988 and contains copies of photographs and accompanying text. Photographs are black and white workprint photographs by Vaughan and Sherry Brody of feminist organizing in California (1971-1992). Subjects of the photographs include: A women’s seder, the Judy Chicago Feminist Program, the LA Women’s Center, the Alcoholism Center for Women renovation, a Pasadena Women’s Liberation Group demonstration, California Institute of the Arts Critical Studies Department and Feminist Art program, XX Meeting of feminist women artists, National Women’s Strike Day, and the Vesta awards.
