Biographical Note

Maggie LeDuc was born in Toronto, Canada in 1947. Her family moved to southern California when she was 5. She attended a Catholic grammar school in Paramount, California and learned English (her first language was French). She began playing sports in school at the age of 9 and continued her sports career throughout school. She attended Pius X high school in Downey, California and was chosen as the outstanding athlete in three different sports (volleyball, basketball, softball) and outstanding player of the eyar at the St. Anythony basketball tournament in 1965.

She later attened California State University Long Beach from 1967-1970 and continued her sports career playing volleyball and basketball. She began her physical education teaching and coaching career in 1971 and eventually taught at Santa Monica College where she became the athletic director for women's sports.

LeDuc returned to school in 1983 and attended University of Southern California to obtain a masters degree in social work. She founded a program for women students returning back to college called "Women in Transition" and eventually started classes like surfing, bowling, rock climbing, aqua exercise and self defense.

LeDuc was inducted and honored into the Hall of Fame at California State University Long Beach in 1994 for her volleyball and basketball careers.

LeDuc came out as a Lesbian around the age of 27 and has been with her partner Jan for 33 years (as of 2022).
